Alabama's homeowners market
Carriers look closely at roof age and condition on every Alabama home, and many policies carry a separate wind or hurricane deductible, especially in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Alabama law requires insurers to offer discounts for homes built or retrofitted to the IBHS FORTIFIED standard, and the Strengthen Alabama Homes program has offered grants toward FORTIFIED roofs. We also cover condos, rental properties, renters, and high-value homes.
Tornadoes, hurricanes, and flooding
The April 27, 2011 tornado outbreak devastated Tuscaloosa and towns across the state, and hurricanes such as Ivan (2004) and Sally (2020) brought wind and flooding to the coast. A standard homeowners policy does not cover flood, so we quote NFIP and private flood policies. NFIP coverage typically has a 30-day waiting period, so it needs to be in place well before hurricane season starts on June 1.
Auto, boat, and business coverage
Alabama requires auto liability limits of at least $25,000 per person, $50,000 per accident, and $25,000 for property damage. We round out your protection with auto, boat, and umbrella coverage. For business owners, we also write business insurance, from business owners policies to commercial property, along with contractors insurance and trucking.
